'Parousia' - Project

Between April 2009 and the end of 2010 we will travel around Hardanger, Norway, with our Mongolian Ger, in every kommune (town), we will stop for one weekend to work on location and have music/art/dance etc. performances in the Ger.

We plan to take with us to every location: 2-3 different performance artists/musicians and 2 different visual artists. Who will work in and around the ger, whichever fits yhem best. Our special interest goes to artists who are interested in improvising and working with surroundings (or against the surroundings) and the other artists/musicians. You could think about making work on location, making sketches, installations in the ger, projections, performance, documentation, etc.

Our Ger placed in a remote location might provide an atmosphere for experimentation (again, nothing is compulsary). All artists will take part only one weekend to keep a variety. At the end of the project (in November), documentation and works will be presented at an exhibition (and catalogue) in Hardanger Kunst Senter in Norheimsund.

During this period (4 days and 3 nights) the artists/musicians will sleep and work in the Ger. We will arrive on Thursdays, put up the ger and look at the surroundings. Friday is for working and performances in the evening. Saturday evening there will be performances again and on Sunday we pack and leave.

The Ger:

Our ger was handbuild in Holland according to 1000 year old Mongolian building plans at nooitmeerhaast. It is waterproof, has a woodoven in the middle and 3cm thick felt. We used it in the highlands of Iceland last June during a Body Landscape workshop as a livingroom/bedroom/workspace for 13 people. Outside it was -2, inside a comfortable 27! The ger can be put up in 2 hours and taken down in 1 hour. There is room for an audience of 20-30 people (Diameter is 6 meters from wall to wall):
